Produced by Red Lion, Voices from Chernobyl is an adaptation of 2015 Nobel Prize in Literature winner Svetlana Alexievich’s novel, which is based on testimonies from the victims of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1986.

The film premiered locally last April at the Luxembourg City Film Festival and, since then, has screened at several other gatherings, such as the Paris Environmental Film Festival, where it won the Grand Prix, and the Minneapolis St Paul International Film Festival, where it pocketed the Best Documentary Prize. Its theatrical release in France is scheduled for 23 November.

The nominations for the 89th edition of the Academy Awards will be announced on 24 January 2017; the ceremony will take place on 29 February.
