From ersatz Kubrick to Süpersex
- Hamburg funds Teutonic projects: Clark's Kubrick-for-a-day to Nettelbeck's surreal Sergeant Pepper & Regel's tale of Germany's 1st Turkish erotic hotline
The FilmFörderung Hamburg GmbH has earmarked Euros 2.750m for a number of Teutonic features scheduled to go into production during the second half of 2003. They include Color me Kubrick by Brian Cook, starring John Malkovich, written by Anthony Frewin and produced by Studio Hamburg Produktion.
Set against the backdrop of the making of Eyes Wide Shut, the film is based on the true story of a man who convinced people that he was Stanley Kubrick and became "famous for 15 minutes".

film profile]. Written by Nettelbeck, Sergeant Pepper is a surreal tale of an unlikely friendship between a child and a talking dog and will be produced by MTM Medien & Television München and Constantin Film Produktion.
Produced by Magnolia Film with a screenplay by Kermin Pamuk and Daniel Schwarz ,Dirk Regel’s Süpersex is a comedy about a Turkish immigrant who earns a living by setting up Germany’s first erotic hotline. Ofsayt by Buket Alakus is produced by Wüste Filmproduktion is the sad story of a woman athlete who discovers that she has cancer.
