The Festival of Slovenian Film announces its winners

- The 19th FSF Vesna Award for Best Film went to Houston, We Have a Problem!
The jury of the 19th Festival of Slovenian Film – comprising writer-director Sonja Prosenc (The Tree [+see also:
film profile]), senior lecturer in Cinema Studies at the University of Pennsylvania Meta Mazaj, DoP and owner of production agency Cebram Rado Likon, and Franc Bernik Culture House programme co-ordinator and vice-president of the Art Cinema Network of Slovenia Jure Matičič – gave the Vesna Award for Best Feature Film to Houston, We Have a Problem! film profile] by Žiga Virc. The film also scooped the Best Editing Award, which went to Vladimir Gojun, and Best Actor in a Leading Role, for Ivan Pavić, alias Božidar Smiljanić.
The Vesna Award for Best Direction went to Damjan Kozole, who continues his festival success after Karlovy Vary with his film Nightlife [+see also:

film profile]. Nightlife’s Pia Zemljič received the Award forBest Actress in a Leading Role. Dušan Milavec (the recipient of the festival’s Lifetime Achievement Award) and Neža Zinajič won for Best Production Design for their work on the film, while the Best Actor in a Supporting Role Award went to Nightlife actors Petre Arsovski, Matija Vastl and Dejan Spasić. Kozole also won in another category, receiving the Best Documentary Award with his short film Borders.
The Slovenian Federation of Film Critics Award went to Vlado Škafar’s Mother [+see also:

film profile], whose Marko Brdar received the Vesna Award for Best Cinematography.
The Audience Award and the Special Achievement Award were received by Igor Šterk’s Come Along [+see also:
film profile]. The film was also awarded by the Slovene Art Cinema Association, and it pocketed both the Best Music (Jura Ferina and Pavao Miholjević) and Best Sound (Julij Zornik)Awards.
Best Actress in a Supporting Role went to Marjuta Slamič for her performance in Slobodan Maksimović’s NNika [+see also:

Bon appétit, la vie! by Urška Djukić received the Vesna for Best Short Film, Best Animated Film went to Nighthawk by Špela Čadež, and Best Animation to Leon Vidmar and Jaka Kramberger for their film Farewell. Lastly, Best Student Film was awarded to Little Fish by Maja Križnik.
