The American Film Market to host EFP's European Umbrella programme

The American Film Market, which takes place in Santa Monica, California, from 2-9 November, is a firmly established major market for the sale and acquisition of international films. 2016 marks the 18th year in which European Film Promotion will be supporting the presence of European sales agents and producers at the AFM by running the European Umbrella programme at the market headquarters for 23 companies and institutions, and 48 films from the continent.

EFP offers administrative support for registering companies, provides business facilities and hosts an annual industry reception. In combination with the European reception, EFP organises prominent platforms for deal-making at the AFM with the support of the European Union's Creative Europe – MEDIA programme and the participating EFP member organisations.

This year, a new record of 48 films from 16 European countries are benefiting from EFP's marketing incentive, which totals over €160,000. This peak is in part due to the recently launched Slate Funding, which covers campaigns for films that start off at the Toronto International Film Festival and subsequently move to the AFM. The AFM offers European producers and sales agents access to US, Asian and Latin American buyers, and exhibitors and producing partners from Los Angeles, which has established itself as the centre of development, production and distribution of film and television in the USA.
