by Roman Polanski, as well as in The Tailor of Panama by John Boorman, to name just a few of his many film credits.

From 1995 to 2002, he played the world's most famous secret agent, James Bond, in Golden Eye (1995), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997 - for which he received an EFA nomination), The World Is Not Enough (1999) and Die Another Day (2002).

In addition to his licence to kill and his work in front of the camera, Pierce Brosnan has long had a passion for the art of filmmaking. He launched his own production company and has produced 11 films to date, including The Nephew (1998), The Match (1999), Laws of Attraction (2004) and I.T. (2016), among others. He is currently filming The Only Living Boy In New York alongside Jeff Bridges for director Marc Webb and will next star in Across The River and into the Trees, based on Ernest Hemingway's classic novel of the same name and directed by Martin Campbell.

Brosnan, who was appointed Unicef Ambassador for Ireland in December 2001 and was honoured with the OBE (Order of the British Empire) in recognition of his contribution to the British film industry, will be an honorary guest at the 29th European Film Awards ceremony for his impressive dedication to cinema.
