) will be the first title to be produced by the new production division of Lucky Red. After entering the international market last year when it joined forces with Indigo Film and foreign sales company True Colours, Lucky Red – which was set up in 1987 by Andrea Occhipinti and has been the leading independent film distribution company in Italy for the last three years – is broadening its activities even further as it opens a new division dedicated to film and television production, the editorial director of which has been named as Serena Sostegni, in partnership with Tommaso Arrighi and under the supervision of Mattia Guerra.

“We want greater choice when it comes to developing and producing Italian and international films, as well as television series and animations, making the most of the potential synergy between distribution and production”, states Occhipinti. “Our active presence on international markets and our close relationship with audiences have most definitely been and will continue to be an advantage in our approach to production”.

Over the years the company has produced and co-produced over thirty films both Italian and foreign: from films by the likes of Mario Martone (L’amore molesto, Teatro di guerra), Salvatore Mereu (Ballo a tre passi, Sonetaula [+see also:

In 2014 Andrea Occhipinti won a Davide Speciale for his work as distributor (with over 400 films distributed over almost thirty years); his work as a producer was instead awarded the European Film Award – Prix Eurimages in 2015. Last year he also won Unifrance’s French Cinema Award  for his contribution to the promotion of French film in Italy.
