Souvenir, one of the productions supported by the Film Fund Luxembourg, will premiere in early 2017

The Film Fund Luxembourg has published its activities report for 2015 – the year in which the Grand Duchy’s film body celebrated its 25th anniversary. A total of 58 projects benefited from the fund’s selective financial support, for a total amount of €35,740,235, according to the figures. Of these, 27 were supported in the script/development strand (€1.06 million) and 31 were backed within the production strand (€31,680,235), including one transmedia project.

by Bavo Defurne (Deal Productions). Both co-productions, directed by Belgian auteurs, opened internationally at the latest Toronto Film Festival and will hit European theatres in the first few months of 2017. Other titles supported within those two strands included Wilfred, the hotly anticipated animated feature debut by Oscar-winning director Laurent Witz, still in production, Rudolf van den Berg’s A Real Vermeer and Alexandre Espigares’ Croc Blanc, among others.

The fund also spent €243,429 on the promotion of 24 projects. This support was invested in the advertisement of local and festival premieres of Luxembourgish titles, such as Les Brigands (Red Lion), Mammejong [+see also:

As part of the partnership with local broadcaster RTL, the fund has also supported the production of routwaissgro, a 24-episode documentary series by 13 local independent directors working together under the “Kollektive 13” moniker (produced by Calach Films), besides the first season of the series Tirlitivi – Planet Kids.
