, has turned out to be the best local performer in the national charts, having notched up 316,088 admissions, he is preparing the new drama set during World War One, based on Danish author Karsten Skov’s 2013 novel Knacker, and scripted by German screenwriter Astrid Ströher and Danish writer-director Kasper Torsting, who will also helm the feature.

Torsting – who has a background in adverts and has just finished his first TV thriller series, Ø, for France’s Studio Plus/Canal+, about a city-girl detective attempting to solve a murder on a remote island, a case that gradually absorbs her completely – will follow Danish soldier Esben, who returns to his beloved wife Kristine and their young child after having fought for the Germans for two years. But home is not like it used to be. The little boy can barely remember his father, and a German officer, Gebhardt, who has managed to get close to the family, starts to move even closer. What seems innocent becomes serious when Gebhardt sends Esben off to the front again. Esben flees and ends up hiding in his own loft, from where he can only watch passively as the family is slowly taken over by another man.

Fridthjof and his Three Heists And a Hamster co-producer Mille Bjørke will realise the €4.7 million feature, which will be co-produced by German producers Christian Friedrichs and Kerstin Ramcke, of Nordfilm Kiel/Studio Hamburg Production Group, one of Germany’s largest production companies. US Star Wars producer Rick McCallum has also boarded the project.
