has won the most important awards at the Gopo gala, hosted last night by the National Theatre in Bucharest. The Mandragora production won Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Leading Actress (Dana Dogaru) and Best Supporting Actress (Ana Ciontea).

Another big winner during the evening was Bogdan Mirică’s Dogs [+see also:

, which snagged six trophies, including Best First Feature and Best Leading Actor (Gheorghe Visu).

Probably the biggest objector to the gala, Cristian Mungiu, finally succeeded in getting his message across to the almost 500 film professionals voting for the Gopos, as none of the nine nominations received by Graduation [+see also:

was converted into an award, despite the fact that Mungiu’s feature received the Best Director Award at Cannes last year.
