was crowned best of show at Tuesday evening’s Iris Awards, which were handed out by the Hellenic Film Academy (HFA). The much-celebrated coming-of-middle-age drama, which last week saw its New York opening welcomed with glowing reviews, confirmed its favourite status by picking up a total of six awards out of 11 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Screenplay, as well as acting gongs for both its lead, Makis Papadimitriou, and his supporting co-star Elli Tringou.

A close second in the nominations phase, Alexandros Voulgaris’ supernatural thriller Thread [+see also:

failed to cash in on many of its ten nominations, finishing the evening with a sole Award for Best Actress, rightfully earned by Sofia Kokkali for her starring turn. Earlier in the evening, the Alahouzos brothers once again confirmed their status as the go-to powerhouse for special effects in Greece by picking up the Best Special Effects Award for their harrowing work on Sotiris Tsafoulias’ suspense drama The Other Me [+see also:

’s Venice-winning Themis Panou took home the Best Supporting Actor Award for his turn in Boulmetis’ politically charged nostalgic period piece.

Confirming the accuracy of San Sebastián’s Best New Director Award, the HFA handed its Best Directing Debut Award to Sofia Exarchou’s Park [+see also:
