The Transilvania International Film Festival plumps up its industry platform

Launched in 2014, Transilvania Pitch Stop (TPS), the industry platform of the Transilvania International Film Festival, is set to undergo some aggressive expansion at its fourth edition: projects from ten countries have been invited to vie for the new €20,000 Eurimages Co-Production Development Award (read the news). The submission deadline is 27 April.

While the previous editions of TPS welcomed first and second feature projects only from Romania and Moldova, now the event is expanding to countries neighbouring Romania and surrounding the Black Sea: directors and producers from Hungary, Bulgaria, Serbia, Ukraine, Russia, Moldova, Greece, Turkey and Georgia are now encouraged to participate in the TPS industry events scheduled on 9-10 June, at the end of the 16th edition of the Transilvania IFF (2-11 June, Cluj-Napoca).

“We are continuing our mission to discover young talents by developing a platform for the countries around Romania and the Black Sea. It's always hard to co-produce for first- and second-time directors, especially in this part of Europe,” says Dorina Oargă, the TIFF’s head of industry. She also tells Cineuropa that the size of her team increased to approximately 45 in order to accommodate the new complexity of TPS and that 400 European film professionals have already been invited to the event.

Additionally, several projects from Romania and Moldova will be selected for a TPS development workshop, the best two projects entering the competition for the Eurimages award. Another industry highlight at TIFF 2017 is the second Less Is More workshop (read the news), and the teams of the 16 selected projects will also have access to TPS events.
