With a line-up boasting 12 titles, French international sales agent Kinology, managed by Grégoire Melin (backed up by Gaëlle Mareschi), will certainly not be lacking in trump cards at the Film Market of the 70th Cannes Film Festival (17-28 May). Standing out among them is a film that will have its world premiere in the Directors’ FortnightI Am Not a Witch [+see also:

This feature debut, a joint production between French outfit Clandestine Films, the UK’s Soda Pictures and Germany’s unafilm, portrays the misadventures of a nine-year-old girl who is exiled from her village after a fairly banal incident, and who ends up in a travelling witch camp.

, stars Vanessa ParadisNicolas Maury and Kate Moran. The story, written by the director together with Cristiano Mangione, is set in Paris during the summer of 1979. Anne, a famous gay porn producer, finds herself trapped within her inner violence, alcoholism and despair, after Loïs, the love of her life and editor of all her films, has left her. Anne attempts to win her back by shooting her most ambitious film, only to find herself caught in a trap where a ruthless masked serial killer mysteriously murders all of her actors. Produced by Charles Gillibert for CG CinémaKnife + Heart is being co-produced by Arte France Cinéma and is benefiting from a €450,000 advance on receipts from the CNC.

Also present among the market premieres on Kinology’s line-up are the US movie Gook by Justin Chon, which won the Audience Award in the Next section at Sundance, and three titles in production: The Man Who Killed Don Quixote by Terry Gilliam (a production being staged by Spanish outfit Tornasol, starring Adam DriverJonathan PryceOlga KurylenkoStellan Skarsgard and Joana Ribeiro), A Polar Year [+see also:
