, kicked off in Guatemala City. His debut feature benefited from a prestigious launch in competition at Berlin in 2015, where it scooped the Alfred Bauer Prize. Standing out among the cast members of his new opus are Juan Pablo OlyslagerDiane BathenMauricio Armas and Maria Telón.

The story, written by the director, revolves around 40-year-old Pablo, a “respectable man" who is a practising evangelist and is married with two children. But even he is not spared the basest temptations, and he falls in love with Francisco. His family and his church will help to cure him. God loves sinners, but He hates sin...

Executive-produced by Edgard Tenembaum and Gérard Lacroix for Paris-based outfit Tu Vas Voir (which was also involved in the Ixcanul Volcano venture) and La Casa de Producción (Guatemala), Tremblings is being co-produced by Arte France CinémaMemento Films Productions and Luxembourg’s Iris Productions. It has also secured backing from the CNC’s World Cinema Support, Ecla and the Film Fund Luxembourg. The shoot will take place in the Guatemalan capital until 4 August, with Luis Armando Arteaga (who lensed Ixcanul Volcano and also garnered much acclaim more recently in the Cannes Critics’ Week for his work on La familia [+see also:

) serving as DoP. The French release will be managed by Memento Films Distribution, while international sales have been entrusted to Spanish firm Film Factory Entertainment.
