The second half of 2017 is set to be a busy one for Artemis Productions, with filming set to begin on two debut features, Escapada by Sarah Hirtt (En attendant le dégel) and Cavale by Virginie Gourmel (Aïe, Stagman).

Virginie Gourmel rose to prominence with her short films Aïe and StagmanCavale follows the movements of Kathy, a secretive and rebellious teenager who has one sole objective: to escape the psychiatric establishment they’ve imprisoned her in. Against all the odds, her roommates, Nabila and Carole, as daft as they are crazy, invite themselves along on this ad-libbed escape… While the title roles were reserved for young unknown actors, the rest of the cast features Pierre NisseCatherine GrojeanErika Sainte and Jean-Louis Sbille. The film is being co-produced by Point Prod (Suisse), and filming will take place from mid-July until mid-August.

Sarah Hirtt for her part made a name for herself on the Croisette with her first film En attendant le dégel, which was selected for Cinéfondation. With Escapada, she once again returns to the subject of siblings torn apart by life, this time in Spain as a result of a modest family inheritance. Each sibling has their own vision of the world, and their own plans for the inheritance… The film will star François Necken, who also starred in the director’s short film, and will be co-produced by Samsa Film (Luxembourg). Filming is set to begin on 18 September 2017.
