BPM, Western, and Sámi Blood were chosen from the previously announced Official Selection, which comprises 10 films each driven by a unique perspective on the challenges facing Europe and Europeans today (read more here).

Collaborating with the Giornate degli Autori (30 August-9 September) will introduce the three chosen titles via a screening of the films. As in past years, the 28 Times Cinema initiative, in collaboration with Europa Cinemas and Cineuropa, will select 28 young cinephiles to serve on the jury of the Giornate degli Autori Award and participate in the LUX Film Prize experience. Each of the jury members will take on the role of LUX Ambassador and present the LUX Film Days in their respective countries.

From October to December of this year, BPM, Western, and Sámi Blood will serve as the focus of the 2017 LUX Film Days, an initiative that will hold screenings of the films in 28 EU countries. With each film subtitled into the 24 official EU languages, all Europeans will be able to discover these films and identify with the topics they address. The LUX Film Prize continues to serve as a tool that demonstrates the complexity and plurality of what defines the European identity, honoring stories of European successes and challenges as told from different perspectives.

During the LUX Film Days, 751 Members of the European Parliament will be invited to vote for one of the three films in competition. The winner will be announced on 15 November at the European Parliament in Strasbourg in the presence of the directors.
