(working title: The Widow) are currently shooting on location in New York City, after having completed the first six weeks of filming in Dublin and Ardmore Studios (Bray, County Wicklow), one of the largest production hubs in the Republic of Ireland. Staged by Bray-based production firm Metropolitan Films in cooperation with Lawrence Bender Films (USA), Little Wave Productions (Ireland) and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment (USA), the feature was recently granted €650,000 by the Irish Film Board. The director, Neil Jordan, is known internationally for The Crying Game, a drama starring Forest WhitakerMiranda Richardson and Stephen Rea, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in 1993. The unexpected success of The Crying Game prompted the reopening of the Irish Film Board that same year, following its previous closure in 1987 caused by financial difficulties.

Greta will be a new thriller starring an exceptional cast – namely, Chloë Grace Moretz, Stephen Rea, Maika MonroeIsabelle HuppertColm Feore and Zawe Ashton. The story, penned by Neil Jordan and Ray Wright, follows the arrival of a young woman named Frances (Grace Moretz) in New York and her subsequent odd friendship with an elderly widow (Huppert). A private investigator (Rea) is tasked with investigating the ambiguous intentions of the widow, whose past and motives seem to be much darker than expected.

The film will be ready for theatrical release in 2018. Greta has already secured international distribution outside of Europe and North America, thanks to agreements reached with Eagle Films in the Middle East and TFC - Tohokushinsha Film Corporation in Japan. US independent film sales company Sierra/Affinity is currently handling its international sales.
