Currently in the editing bay after principal photography took place between late September and late October, Bêtes Blondes (lit. “Stupid Blondes”) is the feature debut by France’s Maxime Matray and Switzerland’s Alexia Walther, a duo who have already helmed four short films, including Les Ambassadeurs and Twist (in the international competition at Locarno in 2012 and 2007). The cast includes Thomas Scimeca (selected as one of the César Academy’s “Révélations” in 2017 for Apnée [+see also:

Written by the directors themselves, the story revolves around Fabien, a sitcom star who had his 15 minutes of fame in the 1990s, who drinks far too much to be able to remember everything he does, and who is shocked by very little these days. And so, when he crosses paths with Yoni, he is not particularly surprised to discover the head of another young man in the bag of this young soldier with tears streaming down his face – a head that is as handsome as a dream, as a memory, as a reproach...

Produced by Emmanuel Chaumet for Ecce FilmsBêtes Blondes has secured a co-production by Swiss outfit Garidi Films, a pre-purchase by Ciné+ and support from the Procirep and the Angoa. The feature will be distributed in France by UFO Distribution and sold abroad directly by Ecce Films.
