Leading German international sales agent Beta Film is teaming up with ZDF’s commercial subsidiary, ZDF Enterprises, to launch Intaglio Films GmbH, an international scripted joint venture that aims to develop, finance and produce English-language drama for German and international audiences.

Headquartered in Berlin, Intaglio Films will be headed up by multi-Emmy Award-winning producer Frank Doelger (executive producer on HBO’s Game of Thrones, John Adams and Rome), who will be in charge of the development and production slate, while Moritz von Kruedener, managing director at Beta Film, and Robert Franke, VP of Drama at ZDF Enterprises, will be responsible for managing business affairs.

Regarding this new venture, which aims to bring German productions to an international audience, Doelger stated: “Of all the opportunities presented to me upon completion of Game of Thrones, the new joint venture proposed by Beta Film and ZDF Enterprises was by far the most interesting and creatively challenging. Backed by the formidable resources of Beta and ZDF Enterprises, and their shared vision for Intaglio, I am looking forward to continuing to work with the established creative community, as well as emerging talent, on both sides of the Atlantic.”
