Nine world premieres at Cannes for the ACID
Cassandro the Exotico! by Marie Losier

“To subject the world to scrutiny, search one’s core to find the most accurate expression to testify to it, reject it, and then fall in love with it all over again. To film it while constantly reinventing one’s standpoint.” Such is the manifesto of the ACID (Association for Independent Film Distribution), the 26th edition of which will unspool on the Croisette from 9-18 May, on the sidelines of the 71st Cannes Film Festival. Today, the ACID unveiled a selection that includes nine feature debuts set to have their world premieres (two of which are documentaries) and which demonstrates a very strong inclination towards young filmmakers, as seven of the titles are feature debuts.

As previously reported, the 2018 programme is enriched by a carte blanche given to the APR (Portuguese Directors’ Association), entitled ACID TRIP #2 (see the news). This means that there will be a total of 12 recent features (ten of which are feature debuts) presented, with a bonus special screening of the French documentary Reprise by Hervé Le Roux (released in 1997 and set to hit French screens again in late May) to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the events of May 1968.
