Hop! wins at BUSTER

- The film about illegal immigration, handled with a light touch by the debutant director from Belgium, Dominique Standaert, was awarded by the jury made by up kids from Copenhagen

Dominique Standaert’s film Hop! was awarded two major prizes at the BUSTER Copenhagen Children’s Film Festival at last Friday’s Award ceremony. The film about illegal refugees from Burundi received the Nordisk Film Fund Award for Best Feature film (a cash prize of Dkr50,000), as well as the International CIFEJ Prize because of its creative value and subject matter dealing with the United Nations’ work for children’s rights.

The jury of eight children, between 11-13 years old, also gave the Best Short Film Award (Dkr15,000) to the political short film Dykkerdrengen by Morten Gieses in which Danish star, Mads Mikkelsen plays a single alcoholic father who has a violent relationship with his son.
The International jury gave its BUSTER Grand Prix (Dkr50,000) to Henrik Ruben Genz’sDanish film, En Som Hodder (“Someone Like Hodder”) because of its” moving portrait of a son-father relationship and for its strong visual flair”.
The Finnish-Swedish Oscar nomination candidate, Elina, won a Special Mention, the Norwegian film Houdinis Hund (“Houdinis’ Dog”) by Sara Johnsen the Best Short Film Award (Dkr15,000 ) and Disa Flytter til Japan (“Disa Moves to Japan”) the Best Documentary Award (Dkr10,000).
