As part of the Cinedays initiative, an exceptional programme has been proposed by the Lantaren & Venster cinemas of Rotterdam. The two multi-screen cinemas, always active participants in the Rotterdam festival, will present an in-depth look at European cinema from 15th to 26th October. This week, five of their screens will present a selection of Mediterranean films, in a review that will then travel on to other cities like Amsterdam, The Hague and Utrecht. A close look at Turkish cinema will pay tribute to Fatih Akin and Mehmet Özçelik, and offers works that are generally absent from European screens: 9 by Ümit Ünal, Rus Gelin by Zeki Alasya, Gülüm by Zeki Ökten, Hititler by Tolga Örnek.
