10/06/2002 - Italy, France, and Luxembourg together for the film by Italian director Ivan Carlei, Il cielo dei violenti

The first opus by Italian director Ivan Carlei should confirm and relaunch new European film production. Alessandro Verdecchi and his Orango Film have just clinched a deal to produce the film together with the Luxembourg production company of Tarantola and the French firm of Axiom Film (the same responsible for Tosca by Benoit Jacquot). This project represents an innovative concept in cinematographic production in that it does not concentrate exclusively on finances but also, and above all, targets the quality of carefully selected films to insure increased competitiveness on international movie markets by means of more consistent budgets. Carlei´s film, entitled Il cielo dei violenti, boasts a screenplay written in collaboration with Claudio Lizza (Il prezzo), who has recently passed away. The story is set against the political and ideological turmoil that took place in Italy during the 1970´s.
