SPAIN

All about Pedro

by

The city of Cuenca (in the Castilla-La Mancha region of Spain) has become the world capital of all things Almodovarian. In fact it’s the location for the first, and only, Pedro Almodovar Centre of Digital Documentation, housing a collection of more than 70 doctorate theses from around the world looking at the Spanish director and his works.
The centre will be officially inaugurated on November 26, as part of the 1st Pedro Almodovar International Conference at the Cuenca Fine Arts Faculty, taking place until November 29. The new project has been set up following an agreement between the director’s production company, El Deseo and the Castiglia-La Mancha University. Apart from cataloguing and preserving all the studies about the Spanish artist, the Centre also aimed to gather together all the national and foreign press cuttings about Pedro Almodovar, with the eventual aim being to spread all the material collected onto the international scene.

You can also access the material through the internet, via a site which is currently being created. Or alternatively you can contact the Centre directly. It’s permanent base will be in the Institute of Audiovisual Communications in Cuenca.
