Constantin and Bavaria decide that youth must have its films

by

Constantin Film is investing in films for youth with two features, TKKG and Die wilden Hühner, co-produced by Uschi Reich and Bavaria Film. The director/producer clearly plays an important role in this co-production, since she worked for both companies. And she is currently the most successful German producer within the 'family entertainment' genre (with, amongst other productions, Das fliegende Klassenzimmer, Bibi Blocksberg, and Emil und die Detektive.

TKKG, adapted by Marco Petry (Schule) from the children's book by Stefan Wolf (which sold 26 million copies), will bring to the big screen the adventures of the famous detective, under the magic wand of director Tomy Wigand (Das fliegende Klassenzimmer). Inspector Glockner will be played by Jürgen Vogel. The film will start shooting this Summer in Bavaria; Constantin Film will release it at the beginning of 2006.

Die wilden Hühner (which means, 'the wild chicks'), by Vivian Naefe (2 Männer, 2 Frauen, 4 Probleme) is an adaptation of Cornelia Funke's best-seller. The script, written by Güzin Kar and Uschi Reich, narrates the story of five 12-ish-year-old little girls who call themselves 'the wild chicks'. They like Robbie Williams, Italian food, social commitment, and their teacher Mrs. Rose. They can't stand the 'pygmeas', a posse of bad boys. All is fine and well until one morning, Grandma decides to kill her chickens, the girls' mascots. Suddenly, the 'wild chicks' are in a state of panic. This feature, distributed by Constantin, will be released on December 15th 2005.
