Rewarded in February at the 36th Hungarian Film Week as Best Director and attributed the Gene Moskowitz Prize by the foreign press, The Porcelain doll also won the award for best male secondary role for Sándor Csányi. With a cast that also includes Lajos Bertók and Judit Németh, the film is adapted from a series of novels by Ervin Lázár which follow three stories; farmers who live a life apart, making their own laws, a balance disturbed by the arrival of strangers, among them soldiers on horseback, a government representative promising to raise the dead and a couple in hiding.
