David Trueba shoots Bienvenido a casa
by Vitor Pinto
Principal photography started yesterday in Madrid on Bienvenido a casa, the film which marks the return of David Trueba, whose previous work, Soldiers of Salamina, competed in the Cannes 2003 sidebar section “Un Certain Regard” and was nominated for 8 Goyas’ Awards.
Urban tale about the transition to maturity, the film tells the story
of a young couple, Samuel and Eva, played by Alejo Sauras and Pilar
López de Ayala (Juana La Loca), who have to face the fact that they will
become parents soon. With the worlds of journalism (Samuel is a press
photographer) and music (Eva is guitar player) as backgrounds to the
plot, the film also stars Ariadna Gil, Juan Echanove, Juana Acosta, Julián
Villagrán, Javivi Gil and Concha Velasco.
"Films depend on a state of mind”, stated the 35 year old filmmaker.
"With this film in particular I want to amuse people. Despite life's
difficulties, I feel like showing life is worth living till the last minute
and that problems are the salt of life", he added. The soundtrack will
feature Andrés Calamaro and Javier Limón. "Music is very important but I
want it to be created from the images, I want it to be inspired by the
film already edited".
Bienvenido a casa is produced by David’s brother's production
company, Fernando Trueba, P.C. s.a., in collaboration with Películas Pendelton and Sociedad General de Cine. The film is due to be released
in the winter of 2006.
