Arte in force at Mostra

Following on from the 18 co-productions selected in May at Cannes, the French-German TV channel Arte will land in Venice on Wednesday with 10 features selected for the 62nd Venice Mostra. Open to French, European and international productions, Arte participates in the financing of films, most often in the form of co-production, within three distinct areas: Cinema, Fiction and Documentary. In 2004, Arte France Cinéma which has no legal obligation to invest in production, gave a total of 8,5 million euros spread over 22 features. Headed by Michel Reilhac, the cinema subsidiary will be represented this year in the Venice official competition by Gabrielle [+see also:

by Patrice Chéreau which benefited from larger available funds in 2004: 600 000 euros of co-production money. Two other films with the Arte France Cinéma stamp will make the trip to the Lagune: Backstage by Emmanuelle Bercot out of competition (investment of 400 000 euros of which 150 000 was pre-sale) and Le Passager [+see also:
