Silver Lion for Garrel

The love story between the Mostra and the French filmmaker Philippe Garrel who was tonight awarded the Silver Lion for Les Amants Réguliers ( read the article) for the best directing is still going on. 14 years after J’entends plus la guitare, the filmmaker is once again climbing up onto the Venetian podium thanks to a work that revives cinema (black and white, lengths of shots…) and the recent story of Europe, particularly May 68's events. The true cinema lesson also represents a good revenge for Philippe Garrel (see interview) and his producer Gilles Sandoz from Maïa Films who struggled to finalize this project.
