Nominees announced for IFTA Awards

Four Irish feature films have been selected to run for this year’s AIB Best Irish Film Award, one of the five People’s Choice categories that will be voted for by the Irish general public for the Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTA) set to take place on November 5, 2005 in Dublin.

The four Irish feature film nominees are Terry Loane’s Mickebo & Me and Inside I’m Dancing [+see also:

by Damien O’Donnell, both produced by Octagon Films in Ireland with co-financing from Working Title in the UK, Adam & Paul produced by Speer Films and Element Films in Ireland, for which Lenny Abrahamson won the IFTA award for Best Director last year, and Shimmy MarcusHeadrush, an Irish/UK/Dutch co-production sold by Media Luna Entertainment.
Four other films will compete for the Jameson International Film Award: Batman Begins, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, Crash and Sin City.

The 2005 nominees for the AIB Best Irish Film Award and the Jameson International Film Award were announced during a ceremony attended by over 150 Irish film and television industry professionals, including Headrush’s actor, director and producer, respectively Gavin Kelty, Shimmy Marcus and Edwina Forkin, as well as actor Tom Hickey and actress Michele Forbes who both starred in Inside I’m Dancing.
