New producer for Lars von Trier

Meta Louise Foldager is Lars von Trier’s new producer following the decision of the filmmaker’s usual production partner Vibeke Windeløv to stop producing for a while.
The 31-year old Foldager had her producing debut at Nimbus Film in 2004 with the successful film by Nikolaj Arcel, King’s Game. She also produced Ole Christian Madsen’s critically acclaimed Angels In Fast Motion and was awarded the Natsvaermer Prize as promising Talent at Copenhagen’s 2004 Natfilm Festival. "Meta’s fantastic debut as producer with King’s Game and Angels In Fast Motion has proved her flair for the job and besides, I believe she will fit perfectly both to Lars and to our company", said Peter Aalbeck Jensen, co-owner of Zentropa Entertainment with Lars von Trier and four other partners, including Vibeke Windeløv.
Windeløv will in fact continue to own 15% of Zentropa and keep her office at the company’s headquarters in Filmbyen, but will turn to "something else than producing films" for a while. Windeløv had been Lars von Trier’s producer since his 1996 film Breaking The Waves. She went on producing all his films including Manderlay [+see also:

film profile], and was preparing his new project My Man The President set to start rolling in February 2006, when she announced her decision. She was admired for her talent to put together 7 or 8 European co-production partners on von Trier’s ambitious projects, but also produced Suzanne Bier’s Open Hearts [+see also:

film profile] and Kristian Levring’s The King Is Alive.
"In relation to Vibeke Windeløv’s decision about quitting her production duties on my films, I would like to say with great regret that I see it as the end of an era", said Lars von Trier. "I’m looking forward to this new cooperation with Meta and because of the change, as a trial and in full humility; I would like to take the chance to revitalize my creative company where for example the glamour of the Vibeke-era will be replaced with a different spartan attitude".
