The battle of the animals
Eight films arrive in the Dutch theatres this week: three European films take on three North American productions and two from Asia, both distributed by 1 More Film. And up against the remake of King Kong by Peter Jackson, which invades 150 screens, films aimed at a young public are putting on their best show.

film profile] by Costa-Gavras and above all Pelican Man, second feature from Finnish Liisa Helminen, a production by Lumifilm Oy, aided by Eurimages and screened at Berlin’s Kinderfilmfest. This film for young people, which tells of the transformation of a pelican into a man, won the Jussi Awards 2005 (the Finnish Césars) best Set Design and best Sound and also nominations for Best Actor for Kari Ketonen and Best Photography for Timo Salminen.
Inspire Pictures brings a third animal into the arena with The adventures of the little mole (De Avonturen Van Het Molletje), a collection of seven shorts from Czech Zdenek Miler. Made between 1957 and 1975, the famous painter and illustrator animated numerous adventures of a little mole, made at the Barranov studios.
