RELEASE Poland

Zatorski: a new success?

by

Will the new piece by Ryszard Zatorski, Tylko mnie kochaj ("But you must love me"), have the same commercial success as his last film?
A natural question to pose on the day of its release, even more so since the last production by the director Nigdy w życiu! (Never in life!) is still a record for recent Polish production: in 2004 it attracted 1 600 000 spectators (with receipts of 5,7 million euros), while in 2005 no Polish film passed the de 250.000 spectators mark !

This fairtytale by Zatorski is simple: one day, a girl of 8 years old, Michalina (Julia Wróblewska) knocks at the door of young architect Michal (Maciej Zakościelny). The girl is in possession of a letter which will change his life. But Michalina is not the only one who will alter the architect’s monotonous existence, there is also a woman ready to break his heart (Agnieszka Grochowska (Warszawa by Dariusz Gajewski – Golden Lion at Gdynia 2003).
The screenplay for this gentle romantic comedy was written by Ryszard Zatorski and the photography was by Krzysztof Dobrowolski. The film was produced by Tadeusz Lampka of MTL Maxfilm and Dariusz Gąsiorowski of TVN.Distribution is handled by two companies, Studio InterFilm and ITI Cinema, in charge of 70 prints, a large release for Poland.
