The two award-winning directors Pawel Pawlikovski (My Summer of Love) and Paddy Breathnach (I Went Down) are ready to start shooting their new projects around March 20, with London-based Capitol Films already attached as international sales agent.

Pawlikovski’s new film The Restraint Of Beats will star Rhys Ifans (Notting Hill), Eddie Marsan (The New World) and Ben Whishaw (the upcoming lead in Tom Tykwer’s Perfume: The Story Of a Murderer [+see also:

opposite Dustin Hoffman). The third feature film by the Polish-born director will be a dark comedy about two Scottish fence builders who keep accidentally killing people, an adaptation of the cult debut novel by Magnus Mills. Irish filmmaker Paddy Breathnach of Man About Dog and I Went Down fame, will direct Cameron Douglas (son of Michael), Jack Huston (grandson of John) and US rising star Lindsey Haun in a horror film based on a script by Pearse Elliott (The Mighty Celt). The film is about a group of US teenagers who go to rural Ireland in search of notoriously potent magic mushrooms, in an area haunted by the depraved ghosts of monks. After eating the mushrooms, they start to have terrifying visions.

Capitol Films already began discussing these new projects at the last Berlin Film Festival, where the company’s star title was Robert Altman’s critical hit, A Prairie Home Companion. Another film on its slate, the thriller Lucky Number Slevin by Scottish director Paul McGuigan, is doing brisk business for Entertainment Film Distributors in the UK, with over £2.5m (€3.6m) at the box office in just two weeks.
