Cardiofitness almost wrapped
by Paolo Menzione
14/03/2006 - Shooting will last two more weeks for Cardiofitness, the debut feature by Fabio Tagliavia, who worked as assistant director for Marco Ponti (Santa Maradona, A+R Andata e Ritorno) and directed the multiple award-winning short films Playgirl and Kissing Paul Newman.
Written by Ponti, Lucia Moisio and Barbara Frandino, and based on the eponymous novel by Alessandra Montrucchio, Cardiofitness was produced by RAI Cinema and Palomar, and executive produced by Andrea Costantini and Giorgio Magliulo of Shooting Star.
The female lead is being played Nicoletta Romanoff, in her second film role after the adolescent determined to make it in television in Gabriele Muccino’s Remember Me [trailer] (Ricordati di me). This time, Romanoff plays an insecure 27 year-old, an aspiring writer who works in a call centre and falls in love with a 17 year-old.
The film, which is in its fifth week of shooting in Rome, has been billed as a classic romantic comedy, a perfect genre story. Tagliavia said: "In Italy, few people want to ‘get their hands dirty’ with genre films. Everyone tends to choose arthouse films over ‘craft’ cinema. This is precisely why I chose to debut with this, a difficult love story, especially because it is conditioned by the prejudices that society has against relationships between people of different ages".
Cardiofitness will be ready next July and will be distributed by 01 Distribution. However, anyone interested in knowing more about the film can already visit the blog www.cardiofitnessilfilm.blogspot.com/, updated daily by Federico Costantini, the film’s young male lead making his debut on the silver screen.
