CANNES 2006 Market / UK

More Dutch content in High Point’s line-up

by

Two more Dutch features have just been added by UK independent sales and financing company High Point Film to their world distribution slate (outside Benelux).

Bride Flight, set to start shooting next July, is the new film by the team behind Academy Award-nominated film Twin Sisters, directed by Ben Sombogaart and produced by Hanneke Niens and Anton Smit for IdtV. The film is based on the true story of the Last Great Air Race from London to Christchurch in October 1953. The KLM flight (nicknamed the Bride Flight) that won the race carried mostly female Dutch immigrants on their way to New Zealand to live with their fiancés, who were already settled in their new country.

). Based on the true story of an unassuming diamond thief who made off with millions under his employers’ noses, the project is being filmed on location in Spain, Holland, Germany and Belgium, with delivery set for December 2006.

Other High Point titles attracting buyers’ attention at Cannes are Zoo Rangers in Africa, part of a successful family film franchise by Dutch filmmaker Johan Nijenhuis, which was just sold to Russia/CIS; and Swiss film Moon On The Snow by Pilar Anguita-Mackay, starring Julie Depardieu and Marie-Josée Croze.

, starring Eriq Ebouaney and James Frain, will not be shown to international buyers before the end of June. “We’ll launch the film at the next London UK Film Focus (June 26-29) because for us it is a better market than Cannes, where it’s hard to get buyers’ attention if you’re not in one of the official sections”, explained High Point’s Executive Sales Director Elisar Cabrera.
