Vinterberg: A Man Comes Home

(2003) and Dear Wendy (2005), Thomas Vinterberg is back home, filming A Man Comes Home since June 12. The acclaimed Danish filmmaker had not made a film in Danish since his highly successful 1998 Dogma title Celebration (Festen).

Co-scripted with Mogens Rukov and Kim Fupz Aakeson, Vinterberg’s new film is a comedy about a world-renowned opera singer who comes back home to his native town. But the hectic love life of local cook Sebastian overshadows the triumphant return of the famous singer.

The film, photographed by UK born Anthony Dod Mantle (a regular collaborator of Vinterberg and Danny Boyle), stars Thomas Bo Larsen, Morten Grunwald, Oliver Moller Knauer, Ronja Mannov Olesen and Helene Reingaard Neumann.

Morten Kaufmann is producing for Nimbus Film, in co-production with Sweden’s Breidablick Filmproduktion, Film Fyn, Film Gear, Mainstream, Nordisk Film , Short Cut, SVT, with support from the Danish and Swedish Film Institutes, Danmarks Radio and the Nordisk Film & TV Fund.

FilmFolket will release the film in Denmark in September 2007.
