19/07/2006 - Although director Damjan Kozole originally screened the movie Labour Equals Freedom (Delo osvobaja) for Slovenian public television, the movie’s theatrical version has also become very successful.
After its world premiere at the American Film Institute in Washington and European premiere at the Locarno Film Festival, it was successfully shown at 20 international film festivals and events, and received two international awards in Sarajevo and Wiesbaden.
This summer, it will be screened at film festivals in Palić (Serbia, July15-21) and Motovun (Croatia, July 24-28) and at the 60th edition of the Edinburgh Film Festival (August 14-27), which is considered the most important film event in the UK. In the autumn, the movie will also be presented at the Prix Italia television festival, and finally shown in Slovenian cinemas as well.
The movie, starring Peter Musevski and Nataša Barbara Gračner, tells the story of Peter, a machine operator in his early 40s who loses his job when Slovenia enters the European Union.
