24/01/2007 - The 36th Rotterdam International Film Festival (January 24-February 4) has announced its complete festival program. Three German films will go up against international colleagues in the two competitions for the Tiger Awards. German productions also have a high profile in the other programme sections.

The Tiger Awards competition for first and second feature films will present the world premieres of The Unpolished [trailer] by Pia Marais and La Fine del mare by Nora Hoppe (Germany/France/Italy).

Brinkmann's Wrath by Harald Bergmann, While You Are Here by Stefan Westerwelle, as well as the co-productions Fraulein [trailer] by Andrea Staka (Switzerland/Germany), Hamaca Paraguay [trailer] by Paz Encina (France/Germany/Netherlands/Argentina/Paraguay) and Suely in the Sky [trailer] by Karim Ainouz (Brazil/France/Germany) will be featured in the Cinema of the Future: Sturm und Drang section.

Cinema of the World: Time and Tide will be presenting Hamburg Lectures by Romuald Karmakar, The Lives of Others [trailer, film focus] (see Focus) by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck and the co-productions Christmas Tree Upside Down by Ivan Cherkelov and Vassil Zhivkov (Bulgaria/Germany), Day Night Day Night [trailer] by Julia Loktev (US/Germany), Rome Rather Than You by Tariq Teguia (Algeria/France/Germany), Summer Palace by Lou Ye (China/France/Germany), WWW: What a Wonderful World [trailer] by Faouzi Bensaidi (France/Morocco/Germany) and You Am I by Kristijonas Vildziunas (Lithuania/Germany).

Still 16, the special section of 16mm films, will be showing Here It Is Fine At the Moment by Ute Aurand and Maria Lang, Landed Takes & Sound Times by Andreas Gogol and Telemach Wiesinger, as well as Dissatisfied by Matthew Buckingham.

The new film by Werner Herzog, the US production Rescue Dawn, will have its European premiere in Maestros: Kings and Aces, which will also be presenting Ararat: Fourteen Views by Don Askarian (Armenia/Netherlands/Germany). Princess [trailer] by Anders Morgenthaler (Denmark/Germany) is screening in Rotterdaemmerung, Videograms of Revolution by Andrei Ujica and Harun Farocki in Hot Spots Bucharest and Tehran, while the short 6/64 Mama und Papa by Kurt Kren (Germany/Austria) will be shown as part of the Cinema Regained retrospective.
