Trigger sold to Germany and France

by Annika Pham

21/02/2007 - Gunnar Vikene’s family film Trigger [trailer], recently screened in Berlin’s Generation section, has been sold by SF International Sales to Germany (MFA Film Distribution) and France (Ninety Seven Distribution) and is in final negotiations for Benelux and the Czech Republic.

Vikene’s second feature film tells the adventures of 11 year-old Alise, who encounters a wild horse fighting for its life. MFA plans to make a dubbed version of the film for German audiences before releasing it nationwide next autumn.

Recent Norwegian films acquired by MFA include Morten Tyldum’s Buddy and Joachim Trier’s Reprise [trailer, film focus].

Ninety Seven in France has already bought DVD and TV rights to several Norwegian (and Nordic) films in the past and will release Trigger on DVD simultaneously with its broadcast on French TV.

“We are very happy about the international interest shown in Trigger”, said the film’s producer Ranya Badendyck and Silje H Eik of production outfit Cinenord. “Selling to Germany is particularly good for a Norwegian film as we face tough competition from the entire world”.

The film was released by SF Norge last November and attracted over 102,000 cinemagoers in Norway.
