16/09/2002 - Vicente Aranda goes to court in protest at the changes made to the Italian version of his new feature Joan the Mad

Spanish film director, Vicente Aranda has lodged an official complaint against Enrique Cereo, the Spanish producer of his latest film, Joan the Mad. The director is angry about changes that have been made to the Italian version of this film. Aranda is angry because the sense of his film has been transformed and, more significantly, the changes were made without asking his prior permission.
The director expressed his bitterness about what he called the “evasiveness” of the Spanish minister for culture and said that since a production agreement exists between Spain and Italy, it was up to the Iberian minister to protect Aranda’s rights.
