It’s raining awards on European Cinema

The Cukoo by Alexander Rogozhkin wins the prizes for the Best Film and Best Director at EuropaCinema Film Festival. The international jury was led by Mario Monicelli and included: actresses Orla Brady, Lucrezia Lante Della Rovere and Minna Turunen.
Stine Stengade won Best Actress for Kira’s Reason (directed by Ole C. Madsen) which also won Best Screenplay and the Fipresci Prize; Best Actor went to Paul Bettany for The Heart of Me by Thaddeus O’Sullivan.
On the final evening of the festival, the “Federico Fellini 8 ½ Platinum Award” was given to Giorgio Albertazzi, Marin Karmitz, Aurelio De Laurentiis and Marco Bellocchio. In the previous days it had also been awarded to Fernando Truebe, Istvan Szabò, Mario Monicelli, Claudia Cardinale and Damiano Damiani.
The “Student and Public Prize for the Best German” film went to Nowhere in Afrika by Caroline Link.
