by

In order to boost its competitiveness on the international market, leading Finnish film and television production house Solar Films has just sold a significant portion of its shares to Danish consolidated group Nordisk Film, who will handle international sales as well as distribution of all Solar films throughout the Nordic countries.

“The new partnership with Nordisk Film is a milestone for Finnish content export”, commented Solar Films founder and head of production, Markus Selin. “Nordisk Film's unexceptional devotion to developing Nordic content production and their excellent international contacts will play an important role in Solar Films' future expansion on the international market.”

Solar Films’ upcoming horror film Dark Floors, co-written by and starring Lordi, the “monstruous” Finnish hard-rock band who won the 2006 Eurovision Song contest, will be the first joint project between Solar and Nordisk. Pete Riski, who has directed all of the group’s videos, will start shooting the film on May 7 and Lordi will give an exclusive performance during the Cannes Film Festival, where Nordisk Film International Sales will start pre-selling the project.
