Backing for the film came from Eurimages (€580,000) and France 3 Cinéma (€450,000, 50% each in co-production and pre-sales), Canal + and CinéCinéma (pre-sales). The project also received development funding from the Centre National de la Cinématographie (CNC), as well as subsidies from the MEDIA Programme and France’s film and television producers’ organisation, PROCIREP.

Distributed in France and sold internationally by Rezo Films (also co-producer at 15%), Princess of the Sun opens in French theatres on April 4 and will have a same-day release in Switzerland through JMH.

Other territories to have snapped up the title include Belgium (Cinéart-Cinélibre); Scandinavia (Scanbox Entertainment ); Greece (Odeon S.A. ); Italy (RAI); Bulgaria (Tandem); Serbia, Slovenia and Croatia (Tuck); Portugal; Turkey; Russia (Paradise); the Middle East; Brazil; South Korea; Taiwan; Indonesia; India; China; and, of course, its co-producer, Hungary.

Negotiations for Spain are in their final phase and are well underway for Germany and the US.
