Nordisk wants to have more fun

by

Nordisk Film TV has inked two separate deals with Danish comedy talents to create works for film, television and even new media platforms for domestic and international markets.

The first deal was sealed with the comedy trio of the TV series The Boys from AngoraSimon Kvamm, Esben Pretzmann and Rune Tolsgaard – and their producer Jesper Rofelt. Kvamm said that he and his partners will create comedy and satirical productions, but will also try out other genres, from quiz shows to documentaries. “The most important thing for us is to have a set-up that allows us the broadest range possible for our creative impulses,” he stressed.

The second deal announced by the major Nordic studio is with stand-up TV comedians Omar Marzouk, Chris D. Nørgaard and Michael Pedersen. The partners have joined forces to set up the company Respirator, to produce international and Danish comedy hit formats for all platforms.

Jacob Houlind, Nordic Manager of Nordisk Film TV, will act as the new company’s chairman of the board. “The whole comedy area is experiencing rapid growth globally and the opportunities to combine genres are many”, he said. “At the same time, comedy has great potential in relation to the new platforms, as we have seen with Borat, for instance. Nordisk Film wants to attract the best creative talent and this wish has definitely been granted with Respirator as part of our environment in Valby”.

All new comedy talents will indeed be based at Nordisk’s headquarters in Valby, where the company’s was founded in 1906.
