German Days at 2007 RomeFilmFest

From October 21-24, German Days will present a range of aspects of German cinema to professional and general audiences of the second edition of the RomeFilmFest.

On October 21, five new German films will screen in Business Street and give professionals an opportunity to see some of the most interesting product available for international distribution.

That evening, at 8.30 pm in the Auditorium of the Goethe Institut of Rome, a collection of the latest German student short films will be presented: NEXT GENERATION 2007. Filmmakers Aline Chukwuedo and Karl Tebbe will discuss their films with audiences.

On October 22 young director Julia von Heinz will pitch her new project Die Wahrerin (The Keeper) to the international producers of the New Cinema Network. Her first film Was Am Ende Zaehlt (Nothing Else Matters) is also screening in the New Cinema Network.

On the same day, the Goethe Institut is organising, in cooperation with German Films, a workshop with film students of the La Sapienza University and Chukwuedo and Tebbe as well as the director of the Dresden Short Film Festival, Robin Mallick, the director of the Academy of Media and Arts in Cologne, Prof. Marie Luise Angerer and well-known director Zueli Aladag, who will present his film Wut (Anger) that evening in the Auditorium of the Goethe Institut.

On October 23 the new German film fund DFFF will be presented at noon at the New Cinema Network’s financing forum. The fund provides an annual €60m for film production and is accessible to European producers. Film financing expert Oliver Castendyk will explain details of the fund and discuss its possibilities and advantages with two German producers.

The German entry of the festival’s official program will celebrate its world premiere on the evening of October 23.

Lastly, the following morning, young German talent will be introduced to international and Italian producers and casting agencies. Five actors and actresses will present some of their current work and speak of their future plans. Some may already be familiar in Italy as they have worked in films like Good Bye, Lenin! by Wolfgang Becker, Emma’s Bliss [+see also:

, which just premiered in Venice Days. Michele Placido will host the event, and a well-known German director will introduce the young actors.
