Multiple Oscar winners Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson will headline Overture Films’ romantic comedy Last Chance Harvey, which begins filming in London this week. The pair was last seen together in Stranger Than Fiction.

The film is written and directed by Joel Hopkins. Hoffman plays a down-and-out man who finds unlikely romantic companionship in Thompson when he goes to London for his daughter’s wedding. Other cast members include James Brolin and Kathy Baker.

Hopkins said, “While writing the script, it was always my dream for Dustin and Emma to play these characters. I never imagined I'd actually be fortunate enough to see that dream come true.”

Tim Perrell (Shortbus) will produce the independent film along with Nicola Usborne (The Best Thief in the World). Usborne and Hopkins won a BAFTA award for most promising newcomer in 2001 for their work on Jump Tomorrow, Hopkins’ debut feature, which he wrote and directed. Jawal Nga (Forty Shades of Blue) is the executive producer.

Industry veteran and award-winning cinematographer John de Borman, best known for his work on films such as The Full Monty, Hamlet, Hideous Kinky and Shall We Dance, will shoot the film.
