A film within a film: Dresen’s new cocktail

film profile] (2005) – has been busy filming his new feature Whisky mit Wodka (“Whiskey with Vodka”) since October 1.
The title is being produced by Christoph Müller for Senator Film Produktion in co-production with Peter Rommel, who produced Summer in Berlin. The scriptwriter is also the same, but this time Wolfgang Kohlhaase has written a story about a famous actor whose alcoholism results in the hiring of a young actor who doubles his scenes should anything happen to him.
According to Dresen, "Whisky mit Wodka is a comedy drama that recounts daily life in the film world. Despite turbulent moments, which are apparently the norm in production, the film is calm and peaceful because we have to take our time to see the nostalgia behind the faces. Cinema is a factory of illusions. Those who make films are also looking for their dreams in them, thereby becoming the mirror of the story that they are trying to recount. This film speaks about self-fulfilment in work and in love".
Cast members include Henry Hübchen, Markus Hering, Corinna Harfouch, Valerie Tscheplanowa and Sylvester Groth. After lensing in Binz and Prerow, on the Baltic Sea, the team will return to the Berlin-Brandenburg region to wrap up filming in Dresden.
Senator Film Verleih will handle the film’s domestic release in 2008.
