The documentary Paper cannot Wrap up Embers by France-based director Rithy Panh has won the Prix ARTE 2007.

Produced by Catherine Dussart Productions, Paper cannot Wrap up Embers has beaten the nine other nominated titles (see news), with the jury considering it "a work of great humanity and impressive artistic competence".

The film, which depicts the lives of a group of Cambodian prostitutes, had already won the top prize at the latest International Festival of Audiovisual Programmes.

The award will be presented during the 20th European Film Awards Ceremony at Berlin’s Arena on Saturday, 1 December.

In the mean time, Panh has already begun the principal photography of his new film, starring Isabelle Huppert and Gaspard Ulliel (see news).
