The SIAE prize for Best Italian Project went to Ritorno ad Haifa (“Return to Haifa”) by Mohsen Melliti: the Tunisian-born director living in Italy (whose debut film, Io, l’altro, was produced by and starred Raoul Bova) is working on a historical film set in Palestine in 1948, just after the proclamation of the nation of Israel.

Presided over by director Saverio Costanzo (In Memory of Myself [+see also:

), a jury composed of young Italian filmmakers (Alessandro Celli, Antonio Tosi, Daniele Riccioni, Vito Palmieri, Josè Corvaglia, Leonardo D'Agostini and Sophie Chiarello, all of which were singled out by the directors of leading short film festivals) chose the Best Debut Film, not a future project (as with the other NCN awards) but a film already made.

, for his “skill in recounting a story with a profound cinematic vision” and for “a mise-en-scene capable of controlling the border between reality and fantasy, where the technical-artistic performances blend knowingly, evoking in the spectator intense emotional participation”.
