In The Wild Soccer Bunch 5 – which is produced once again by Ewa Karlström and Andreas Ulmke-Smeaton (of Munich-based company SamFilm) in collaboration with Buena Vista International Filmproduktion – the young heroes face dangers more terrifying then ever.

After defeating the "Beastly Beasts", the "Wolves of Ragnarok" and the "Silver Lights", they are obliged – in order to be reunited with their team captain Leon who suddenly disappears – to go beyond the horizon into the Shadow Realm, inhabited by vampires, and play a game of football that decides their friend’s fate.

This major release eclipses the rest of the line-up. The other European titles launched yesterday in Germany are more modest productions. These include German/Swiss documentary Dust (distributed by RealFiction), in which Hartmut Bitomsky analyses the titular matter from a philosophical perspective; Philippe Calderon’s French documentary The Besieged Fortress [+see also:

(distributed by 3L); and experimental UK film Blue, directed by Derek Jarman in 1993 (distributed by Salzgeber).

As of today, Austrian viewers will have the chance to discover the German documentary Rubljovka – Road to Bliss (produced by Lichtfilm), in which Irene Langemann explores a place that has always attracted the Russian elite and is nowadays synonymous with Putin’s police state and unrestrained capitalism. The film – which won the "Der Standard" Reader Prize at the last Viennale and was released domestically in December 2007 – is distributed in Austria by Filmladen.

Finally, Ventura Film are releasing Stefan Schwietert’s Swiss documentary Echoes of Home [+see also:
